The design world is constantly changing and with that, so am I. The perceptive ideas of art are what lured me into this life of creativity and progress. Some of my earliest memories are of observing the world around me and drawing it on paper. I believe that conveying my thoughts, ideas, and emotions into a physical form and seeing it come to life is something that brings light to my life. This conversion of life and creativity has lead me to the profession and passion of Communication Design.
For inspiration, I begin to explore outside the world of design. I look to nature to give me a breath of fresh air, literally. Getting away and experiencing solitude within nature is what allows me to take a step back and re-evaluate my progressions and impediments in life. I look to art and music to spark the creativity within me. Exploring all mediums of art, such as painting and music is important to bring a new light to my work. To discover all of these elements in a new way,
I desire to travel. Whether it be a quick trip to a local town or a journey to another country, seeing the world opens my eyes to a new understanding of people and their cultures. Allowing myself to feel completely out of place is refreshing and renewing. These experiences in the world, allow my thought process to expand and evolve. Concept comes first, I highly value the idea before form. Paul Arden stated “When it can’t be done, do it. If you don’t do it, it doesn’t exist” By initiating these innovative ideations and progressions, I can’t allow myself to be limited by what is in existence. Great design comes from intuitive problem solving.
I am inspired by designers like Candy Chang, who uses her knowledge of design and humanitarian calling to bring a positive impact to various communities. The use of her skills shows the extensiveness of design and how it can be applied to help people for the better. Community based design is something that I will always want to be apart of so I can make a lasting, positive impression in the world.
I believe that my competitive nature will drive me through this profession to become a better designer. This means to make a mark in the world through sustainable and inspiring design.
